Inlays are usually made from porcelain, composite resin or gold. They are larger than conventional dental fillings yet smaller than crowns. They are constructed prior to being fitted. They are then cemented in place.
Onlays tend to be larger than inlays as they cover more of the tooth surface. Unlike conventional fillings, 2 visits are usually required.
